Getting Ready for Your New Hot Tub

    Electrical Requirements
Make sure the required electrical service has been properly installed. Consult our Sales staff for pre-delivery books with complete electrical requirements.

    Delivery Access
When your spa is delivered to your home, it will be transported in a delivery cart from the delivery truck to your chosen location. You want to make sure an adequate and safe delivery access for your hot tub is available.

    Planning the Path to Use
Use the following list when planning the path to use:

    • How is your width clearance?
    • Check all gates
    • Are there protruding electric meters?
    • Gas meters?
    • Air-conditioning units?
    • Potted plants?
    • Potting sheds?
    • Other yard paraphernalia, such as landscaping, ponds, swingsets, etc.?
    • Do you have sufficient overhead clearance?
    • Check low roof eaves, overhanging branches, rain gutters
    • Is the path clear?
    • Move away branches, dog houses, pet waste, firewood, etc.
    • If there is a 90 degree turn, can we clear it? (The spa will not bend.)
    • No more than 6 consecutive stairs without a landing.
    • Move away any potting sheds, potted plants and yard paraphernalia.

If your spa has to be taken off the cart to go over a wall or barrier over 30 inches high, or because the entry area is too narrow, an eave is too low, a corner is too tight, or a stairway is too steep, additional people will be needed and may delay your installation date to a day we can have several guys on the task. In all deliveries, our major concerns are the health and physical safety of our crew and avoidance of damage to your home and landscaping.

The Pool and Spa Center will be happy to help you plan the details, and ensure your spa will find a safe and happy home.

    HEATER RESET INSTRUCTIONS.

The heater is pressure sensitive, if it gets an air bubble in it, it will shut itself off at the breaker. This is a safety device.

    1.  Turn off both 20 and 30 amp breakers. Wait 15 minutes.

    2.  Turn on 20 amp breaker only. For caspian, vista, envoy turn the 30 amp breaker on the heater is the only thing on the 30 amp breaker, everything else runs off the 20 amp breaker). Turn 30 amp breaker on.for caspian, vista , envoy turn the 20 amp breaker on

    3.  At this point you will have to push the reset button on your heater. Unless you have a 2004 or newer, in which case the heater automatically resets when the breakers are shut down for 15 minutes. If you have a reset button, you need to push this in. (This should be done using a screw from the compartment door.)  The reset button is located at the base of the heater, either in front, in back, or on the side of your brainbox (1995 or earlier, unless you’ve had the heater replaced since purchasing) the button will not click or pop out once depressed, so just make sure you press hard.

    4.  Once the button has been pressed then you can turn on your other breaker. It can take anywhere from 4-12 hours to heat up. This procedure may need to be done more than once.

  • Ozone Cleaning Instructions

    OZONE CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

On occasion, a mineral build-up may clog the ozone injector, causing a lack of flow, or low flow of ozone bubbles. To prevent this, refer to the following instructions to clean the injector: Also, please check to see if you are using Stain and Scale once a week; 1 to 3 oz. each time, every week. This will help prevent this build up here and in your pumps and heater.

    1. Check to see if bubbles are coming out of the return grate at the bottom of the spa. If there are not any bubbles then start at #15.
    2. Access the equipment compartment.
    3. Locate the ozonator in the equipment compartment and unplug the ozonator from the control box.
    4. Place 16 oz. of white vinegar into a container such as a cup or bucket. Place the container on the equipment compartment floor. NOTE:  White vinegar will not damage any of the spa components.
    5. Carefully loosen the long Tygon/Kynar tubing to the bottom of the ozonator.  A liquid substance may be found inside the tubing.
    6. Place the end of the tubing into the vinegar, making certain that the end of the tubing sits at the bottom of the container.
    7. Reconnect power to the spa.
    8. Run the spa until all 16 ounces of the vinegar are gone. This should allow an ample flow of vinegar to be run through the injector and clear the blockage. If the vinegar does not get drawn through the tube, proceed to #15.
    9. Disconnect power to the spa.

    10.  Remove the empty cup or bucket.

    11.  Reinstall the tubing to the bottom of the ozonator.

    12.  Plug the ozonator into the control box.

    13.  Close the equipment compartment door.

    14.  Reconnect power to the spa.

    15.  If the vinegar did not get drawn up the tubing then you have either a clogged injector or check valve. The easiest way to clear this is to remove the hose from the injector (Black plastic spliced into the clear ½ inch tubing ) and poke a small pin into the valve...if it works you will see bubbles start to appear instantly. If not then you may need to poke it some more, or, remove it and soak it in C.L.R.

    16.  Once you have bubbles coming through with the Injector, you can hook the hose back up and see if you are getting bubbles still. If so go back to step one and start the cleaning process. If no bubbles, then proceed to the next step.

    17.  If you have no bubbles then you should keep the hose attached to the injector and remove the hose from the other side of the check valve. If you don't get bubbles then you must soak or replace the check valve.

    18.  If you have bubbles after cleaning the check valve then connect it all back together again and see if the bubbles are still flowing. If they are go back to step 1 and start the cleaning process, if you do not have bubbles flowing then check on the actual Fresh Water III generator for the 3 things sticking out of the bottom. One is you power cord, one is the hose, and the other is a filter. Remove this filter and then check to see if there are bubbles. If so, then clean the filter and put it back or you may choose to just leave this off. If this doesn't work then you can try starting at #17 again, or you might want to buy a new Ozone system. Or you can just disconnect it and use the Chlorine instructions to keep your spa water fresh and clean.

  • Airlock Instructions

    Print

    Airlock Instructions

    1. Both Red and Green lights on Control Panel will be flashing.
    2. Sometimes a squealing sound can be heard coming from the equipment compartment.
    3. The heater is pressure sensitive, if it gets an air bubble in it, it will shut itself off at the heater.
    4. This is most common when refilling your spa. More often when you actually drain out the equipment drain rather than just the main tub drain. When refilling your spa, you should place the hose into the hollow stand pipe that the filter sits on. This is usually a gray cap, the rest are white this will help eliminate airlocks, along with only draining your spa, not the equipment compartment. (Refer to your owners manual to know which drain to use)

    Steps to Fix:

    1. Turn off both 20 and 30 amp breakers.
    2. Remove the filters and put screw caps back on.
    3. Turn on 20 amp breaker only. For caspian, vista, envoy turn the 30 amp breaker on. Run the jets and rotate the smart jet lever(s) 15 minutes at 3,6,9,& 12 o’ clock positions until the tub is running smooth. Also shut down waterfall, or other water features.
    4. At this point you will have to push the reset button on your heater. Unless you have a 2004 or newer ( or if we’ve installed a new heater since october 2005), in which case the heater automatically resets when the breakers are shut down for 15 minutes. If you have a reset button, (this should be done using a screw from the compartment door) the reset button is located at the base of the heater, either in front or in back or on the side.
    5. Turn 30 amp breaker on.(For Caspian, Vista or Envoy turn the 20 amp breaker on.)
    6. This may have to be repeated until all the air is out of tub.
    7. Leave your filters out until the spa comes up to temperature.
    8. Put filters back in.

    Steps if Problem Still Persists:

    1. Unclamp hoses in equipment compartment running from the heater and circulation pump. Gently pull and twist hoses until air pocket releases itself.
    2. Replace Clamps.
    3. Repeat steps 1-8 except step #3 – you only have to rotate the Smart Jet Lever every 5 minutes to all positions.

  • Hot Tub Winterization

    Print

    HOT TUB WINTERIZATION

    1. Disconnect the spa from the power supply by the appropriate method:   115 Volt--Disconnect the power cord from the house receptacle, coil it and place it into the equipment compartment.  230 Volt--both of the GFCI breakers located in the subpanel.
    2. Remove the screws from the equipment access door; remove the door completely.
    3. Locate the main drain valve and remove the drain cap. Attach a garden hose to the drain valve and route the outlet of the hose to an appropriate draining area.
    4. Open the valve and the spa will drain by gravitational flow.
    5. Remove the threaded cap from the secondary drain. The remaining water will drain from the bleedline system.
    6. Remove the filter cartridge, then clean and store the cartridge in a dry place. Important: Wipe out any residual water from the inside of the spa and filter compartment.
    7. Using a ShopVac, suck out all water from drains. Leave against drain for several minutes. Then starting at the top and winding your way down to the lowest point, suck out each individual jet face. Do this for a minute on each one. Finally, unscrew the bottom drain screen cover inside the spa. Place vacuum over the hole and allow it to suck up the remaining water for several minutes. For Moto-massage, unscrew the face plate and unscrew the moto-massage jet and suck water out of compartment and the jet hole.
    8. Close the cover.  If your spa has a vinyl cover, cover it with a large board to help evenly distribute snow and ice.
    9. Leave the main drain valve open about turn during winter months.
    10. Important:  To completely drain the internal plumbing, a wet/dry ShopVac should be used to draw any remaining water through the drain and through each jet.  If this isn't done you may have freezing damage to your spa.
    11. We recommend wrapping the spa and cover together with a product designed for winter storage called "Winter Wrap" that is available at our stores.

Please contact The Pool and Spa Center with any questions you may have regarding winterization of your spa.  We can winterize your spa for you, for further information or to schedule an appointment please call us at (Appleton) 866-203-7469 and (Oshkosh) 888-855-4897.
